I made up a small filter shroud that takes a duct from the corner of the front bumper.

Reduced air temps dramatically.

Have you actually measured the intake temperatures at all?

I monitor mine, at the actual throttle body, and it's generally between five and ten degrees cooler than that being taken in, which, even on a hot day, is only tendegrees above the air temperature, unless the car has been driven hard and is left to stand ticking over.

Gt Series 2 FMIC.

Problem i used to have was air charge temps after sitting stationary for a while. This was obviously heat soak into the filter and inlet pipes.

Then when moving again it took a while for the temps to drop to normal again. The heat soak issue is still there to a certain extent, but now as soon as i start moving again they drop to normal pretty much instantly.

the biggest impactors on 'air intake temps' are, 1)the heat the turbo creates compacting the air, in my experience this can range from 120deg C to 200deg C, this is affected by the ease the turbo can get it's air supply, free flowing filtration/ducting helps and how hard it has to work to reach required boost level, so cheap intercooler with large pressure drop would cause the turbo to produce more heat, either top or frontmount. 2) the temperature of the air flowing over the intercooler and it's surface area.
