Default compression ratio question

im getting into a fizz about compression ratio

from what i gather you determine it via head cc,piston cc and stroke etc etc

im planning a 2.1 stroker using avcs heads and im nearly ready to start collecting the parts

i see companies like advanced automotive selling kits with head gaskets but how do you know which size gasket to go for?

http://www.advancedautomotives.com/s...age-1484-p.asp

i want to run around 450-475 bhp as a fast road car,no track use and no meth just v-power fuel as its an everyday car

anybody help?

It states all the required figures to work it out, it would be a 1.1mm gasket to get 8.49:1, if its a 0.9mm its 8.65:1.

That you will have to measure with the piston in the bore, those figures quoted by manufacturers is a guide only, you should always measure each build, inc head cc's as they are all different, your changing rods, crank etc, they all have differing tolerences from batch to batch, so you need individual measuring.

ahh well why not get a list of parts required from the engine builder as i think your going to make errors doing it the way you are.

this is the bit thats confusing to me,how can a company sell you a full stroker kit including head gaskets when you dont actually know what size you want until the pistons are in the bore and the machine work has been done?

Exactly, there are pistons out there claiming to be a specific cc crown, when in fact they are nothing like it, so never trust anything out the box, it can & will catch you out.

I'd leave the headgasket out of the equation and have that worked out once the build is done. Have you spoken to any engine builders (Engine Tuner etc) as having it built and buying a "kit" will probably work out a similar price.
IIRC Enginetuner had a "roll in, roll out" price on a 2.1 depending on parts used?. I'd see if that includes any block work (skim, reface or thrust conversion) then of course its heads etc etc.
