Default Lambda sensor on engine management

Hi all just brought a 03 blob the engine management was on when I brought it so plugged it in before buying came up with lambda sensor guy then said he replaced few weeks ago light stayied off then came back on 3 days ago

He says his machanic said because of the full decat the car has to be mapped
Is this true if so why is it effecting lambda

I knew this prob won't be a major problem as car came with all the cats so worse case thought I could refit the cats so still brought it lol

Any views
Many thanks
Gavin

Aircon pump switches off at WOT as far as I'm aware anyway so bit pointless really. Asfor Lambda probe sounds like it might be worth testing the sensor, maybe it wasn't a genuine part. I was told when replacing mine to only use genuine denso.

Yep, the ECU cuts off the aircon under heavy load, very clever

Is the code P0420?

If a decat up pipe has been fitted it will throw the cell light unless it's been mapped out or a resister fitted. I thinks that's the code that shaun has shown p0420.

You will get split views on whether you need a remap but one thing everyone will agree on without it you wont get the extra power you should have.

Why change the front Lambda sensor?

the DENSO ECU stores historic codes and should differentiate between the front lambda sensor having died and the rear lambda sensor throwing a wobbly with the cats removed.....
