No play in and out, was wondering more about the noise of the bearing. obviously that's running dry atm but does it sound alright? Like doesn't sound like the bearing has broke up? It spins smoothly so doesn't feel like it has broke up

You would know straight away after spinning it if the bearing was broken up mate, so I think your good.
There will always be a little play in the shaft of any ball bearing turbo which will disappear after its fitted and once the oil pressure has built up. As long as it is spinning freely and silently without touching the compressor housing it should be ok.

As above, plus you need to remember its a roller bearing. I've heard them spooling down and can be quite noisy. They don't have journal bearings like the cheaper TD04 etc.
I don't have any links to parts sites but just do a google search, I'd be confident you will find something. Especially in America!
