Default oil sumps and what fits??

I need another oil sump for my 2003 blob sti, but was wondering what other oil sumps fit? are bugeye or hawkeye sumps the same fitment for example? as long as 2.0L??

or do any classics fit? or will it have to be one from a blobeye?

all and any help much appreciated along with anyone that maybe has something??

Hi Grant

EJ257 sumps will fit yours, but think you will need Oil dipstick from EJ257 plus other bits and I'm not sure if they clear headers

From classic/bugeye yes will fit yours too without the problem

thanks Jura so I should be fine looking for either a classic bug or blob oil sump and all should fit regardless if wrx or sti, as I was not sure and don't want to end up getting one from someone then it not fitting or something daft.

Ej257 use the twin scroll sump so less capacity and your car will run slighter hotter if you fit one. So stick with classic, bug or blob for replacement sump

Some sumps are better than others at oil control. E.g the twin scroll sump is better than the single scrolls, and I believe the ej257 sump is better from this pov than the older single scroll ones.

Not relevant unless you do track work, probably, however if you do it's worth keeping in mind.

I don't do track work at all its more of a show car tbh, and just looking for a replacement, just was not sure what models would be a direct fit, I guessed when the 2.5s came in they were maybe different and I knew twinscrolls were different was more to see if wrx and sti from bug to hawk were all direct fits and classics and if there was a difference in say a uk2000 and a 96 import sti for example.
