John, i have fitted a lambda link and could do with some advice...
I have connected all the wires and have no lights showing??
i have the power on light!!
My question is, i have connected my multimeter to the wires from the ecu and engine earth and i am getting a reading of 230mv at tickover and about 840mv on boost, should this (in your opinion) be lighting up the afr.
Is this enough voltage??
Thanks
Rob
p.s. i have taken readings at the afr and they are the same, so it is not a connection problem.
p.p.s. sorry to bug ya but i really need someone with knowlege!!!

Yes 840 mV should light up a couple from the right hand end of the lambda link. Not having wired an actual lambda link personally it is difficult to suggest further - check the signal ground connection if there is one. You have already checked the voltage at the lambda link itself.

No you would not get a reading - if it has one and it is not connected properly, but I don't know if it does!

Do you have any instructions?

I have instructions, they state that you should have a live connection, earth for afr power , connection to correct ecu wire (lambda) and a signal earth (which should be connected to the engine and not the chassis, as the lambda sensor uses the engine as an earth and gives a more accurate reading)
all correctly connected....
What i did was connect one wire at a time, making sure they were connected properly, taking readings after each wire was connected.
I am mostly thinking that, because my meter is getting the right readings then the l/link should light??

The lambdalink has 4 wires - 12v and ground plus the Lambda signal wire and it's ground connection.

The instructions says you should connect the 2 lambda wires at the sensor....but I spliced mine in at the ecu end. The important thing is to make sure the two lambda wires connect to their appropriate counterparts in the loom. You have two pins on your ecu - one for lambda signal, one for lambda shield/earth - use these two!

If you connect the lambda ground to chassis, there's the risk of a differential - and it doesn't need much on the lambda signal to give incorrect readings!

If you have already wired as above, I guess you've a duff lambdalink. When you tested at the lambdalink, did you measure across the two lambda wires?

Dowser, which wires did you splice at the ecu, i need to make sure i have connected at the right wires??
Thanks mate
Rob
p.s. i have tested across the lambda wires and have a reading, that seems to be correct... 0.2v at tickover and about 0.84v on boost..

Rob the wires are different on different model years. Dowser and I have MY99/00 and there is a wiring diagram in the Link manual on the MRT rally site.

Can anyone tell me if......
I should get continuity if i test across the two wires on my afr that the lambda wires connect to (not the power supply and earth), just a last test before i send the lambdalink back......
Thanks

No the input impedance is probably about 10 mega ohms and I would not put a continuity tester across it and expect a buzz.

The tester i used does not buzz, it gives a reading which seems to be very sensitive, it gives a reading of 1 if there is a good continuity, but if the connection/continuity is not very good it gives a reading from 1 to 1000 (1000 being almost no continuity at all) however i may be completely wrong
Gonna send it back today...
Fancy makin me one
