What FMIC was it? Any boost leaks? Did the mapper comment on if it was taking less ignition etc?

did you not ask him why he thought it had lost power as he is a very experienced mapper and would probably know much more than us lot on here

well id start with what andy says, if you have lost bhp and the only thing that has changed since last map was intercooler odds on thats the problem.

As above. Sounds like the FMIC is the problem...

From what Andy F has told you it sounds like there is an increased pressure drop across the FMIC...........maybe the core is faulty?

dont think it matters what the readouts are.

same car , same mapper , diff intercooler and lower power output.

clearly the fmic is the weak link ??

dont think it matters what the actual figure is,the fact that its lower than previous figure from same car and same mapper is the problem.

speak to japspeed mate imho ?

Hi there

We run Japspeed FMIC at 490bhp without the problem.

What turbo you are running ?

When the mapper said the fuelling was ok was he comparing it with previous figures obtained with the TMIC or just as a general statement when mapping with the new IC?
If he found that it needed less fuel than before then it would follow that the airflow was down and consequently, lower power result.
I use a Japspeed FMIC but mapping was done in conjunction with a bigger turbo so no before and after figures could be compared. It's accepted that the FMIC will increase lag over the TMIC but once stable will it actually FLOW as much air as the top mount? Are there any comparative figures available?
It's said that once you aim for over, say 400bhp, you should consider a FMIC and it's just to control charge temps but not increase airflow. With all else unchanged, it doesn't surprise me that you see a power drop but 25 bhp does seem rather a lot!

Surely the mapper would have seen this quite clearly

Hi Peter

I would yes this will cost you loose at bhp/torque side

I would speak with Alyn@AS Performance about the Murray clamps which are made for high boost applications

Hopefully you will get this sorted
