Default Which td05?

Hi. Iv got a v5 type r. These have a vf28 don't they? I'm just wondering g as I'm confused as to which td05 would be suitable for it to get around 350-400bhp in the future. Td05 16g, 18g, 20g? I know it has to be front entry for it to fit and obviously I'd have to forge the engine and maybe change the gearbox to a 6speed. Just wondering which turbo? Or maybe you could reccomend a different turbo for a good 350-360bhp. Vf? Cheers ash

I have a newage STI 8, I was advised (I was looking for around 370ish BHP for fast road use), to go for the TD05 18g. This was from my mapper (Duncan at Race Dynamics) along with some research. The 20g will be more laggy and the 16g wont push as much power at the top end, so basically its a excellent all rounder. I am having the car put on the dyno this week and will be posting up the results shortly which may help with your decision.

Mine may actually be for sale shortly as an opportunity to go for a 450 bhp set up could be on the horizon

My opinion is its a very good turbo, quick spool (I have the 2.0 engine but obviously have the AVCS heads which may help a little) and pushes its power well right up to the red line.

Mine runs an HS TD05 20g, but that's with a forged 2.5 engine.

Spool is VERY early and it does an easy 400/400, mapped by Bob Rawle.

ive seen a 16g hit 353bhp on a 2litre at surrey rolling road, was a freinds car, and another same day 340, id say thats maxxing the 16 out, i would say 18g max for unforged engine, vf43 is similar to 16g, what does the vf22 make? these's are the ones fitted to the v3 sti and 22b and heard they can make good power.
you have to think what you want and a budget. a 350bhp road car with proper brakes
and suspension is great fun,

What would a td05 18g see? Think a 16g would be good with supporting mods but I'd always want abit more power so I rekan a 18g would be perfect? Would I need to five the engine to a 2.1 for a 18g though? The vf22 are a good turbo though arnt they with the the roller bearing, but I can imagine they would be abit more expensive.
