Question What oil is best for 1995 wrx just purchased?

I just purchased a 1995 wrx with original130ks. My mechanic said that the early turbos use brushes/or bushes instead of bearings. I'm not sure what he is on about. He mentioned that the best oil for them is a semi synthetic not synthetic due to this fast. Is this correct? If not, what should i use...what viscosity oil and brand can you recommend for me. Would appreciate any help/... like your website

First I have heard of that.

I would say that I would be concerned if I heard my mechanic say that.
I think you will find that all turbos run on a shaft/bearing system.

Oil grade is for more important than whether it is semi of fully synthetic. I would say that he know sweet F all about Impreza's.
10w40, 15w50 full of semi synthetic will be fine for your car.

10w40 semi synthetic, no point putting a fully synthetic in a car with that many miles on the engine, the wear is already there so just stick with the semi

He will mean they have sleeve (americans say Journal) bearings, not roller bearings as far as I'm aware.
