Default WRX Blobeye decat problem :(

Hiya

I had a full decat fitted to my stock wrx blobeye today, picked it up and the engine light was on, i half expected this but wasnt concerned as i was planning on getting it remapped next month...

so on the way to work this afternoon i wanted to hear the symphony of the decat so i planted my foot and it reached 3-3.5k rpm and started to judder and and stall!

I lucky pulled into a nearby petrol station where it died, i restarted it and drove around the forecourt with a very light foot, it seems it doesnt like sharp blips of the throttle nor anything over 3000rpm or it judders and dies or just drops revs.

Its a full decat i had fitted including the uppipe

I'm hoping all this needs is a remap.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it will need a map. Will be best to avoid boosting or heavy acceleration until this is done.

Glad it wont have to come off again then. It wont boost or accelerate anyway :/ just wants to cut off, i guess its a safety feature from the ECU?

Thanks for the reply.

Just noticed - Location: Cheshire

I had Andrew Carr map mine and the difference hes made is unreal!

I would recommend a panel filter and a better Fule pump (Andrew fitted the pump for me at the same time as the map)

Bugger I was hoping to change the whole system including the up pipe but put all the sensors back in, thought it would run fine after that

Where abouts in Cheshire are you? Depending how far away from me you are I could plug my scanner in and see what the fault is.

That's what I was thinking which is why I suggested putting my scanner on it. It may just be that they started it without plugging the lambda back in.

Yeah Thats a bit too far but thanks for the offer mate.

I've just got off the phone to tuning developments and they say because i removed the cat the primary and secondary sensor are not reading correct temperatures, he also said the car doesn't have a limp mode but they don't do many Subaru's.

A Blob does have limp mode. When the light is on they won't rev above 4000rpm and they won't boost properly. Removing the cat shouldn't cause the management light to come on unless they haven't refitted and connected the lambda sensor. I've removed two of the three cats on mine and I don't get a light coming on.
