05 Blobeye WRX

My speedo & odo stopped reading so after checking and cleaning the connections came to the conclusion it was the speedo sensor that had failed.

Can I remove it, can I hell. It's a plastic part stuck tight on the gearbox, spanners, mole grips are just rounding it off. Access is very limited. I'm coming at it from the top but not sure from the bottom would be any better. The connector on the top has already snapped off in my attempts.

Has anyone had this problem before? It's driving me nuts.

 

Just break it up with a small chisel/screwdriver an a hammer and it will come out in pieces
