Hi people last few. Days I've developed a slight metallic rattle on start up gos away after a second and dosnt come on start up again for rest of day also got it when get to highish revs and hold it it rattles constant then on lift off you hear the dump valve and slight rattle and goes away the rest off the time it sounds normal I've got a 2003 wrx newage any help would be great it's driving me nuts

Could it be a loose exhaust heat shield?

Could possibly be the timing belt tensioner tapping on the casing as the belt moves about

Sounds like classic cat breaking its welds in the uppipe again, happen to mine years back, not to mention a few other people on here. But could be other things...

Gonna get under tomorrow check exhaust and cat heat shield I've just got cat left in up pipe then straight through exhaust .... Really sounds like something vibrating rattling when engine shakes under revs hope its something simple thanks for replies people

My bugeye did this. Was the cat in the up pipe. Got it changed for a decat one. I would recommend checking it sooner rather than later cause the up pipe cats have been known to break away and disintegrate and then destroy the turbo.
