hey guys , so i've just got a 1993 subaru legacy 2.0 turbo uk and the TMIC looks like this


1. what's the cap for ?
2. can i change this for a normal air cooled one ?

i ashume its oil cooled or something ?
i've only ever delt with impreza's so any advice would be great thanks in advance..

Hi there

You have Chargecooler,its something what you can only find on the older Legacy and yes you should be able to change for air cooler,but problem will be yours scoop

Maybe FMIC can be better idea and cheaper too

the scoop ? as in the bonet scoop ? it looks like this

and as you can see in the first pic its blanked over the tmic with a screw off plate.
FMIC would be a great idea but the bumper is smoothed into the wing , i bought it like this

Hi Dai

This scoop is very small for this bigger TMIC and I would suspect you will not gain too much

Those coolers are OKish for something like 280-300bhp,above that I would say you will need invest to better chargecooler or FMIC/TMIC

Just search for Subaru Legacy Chargecooler which are same like you have
