ej20k hard start in hot weather
Alright I've had this odd issue for pretty much the entire time I've owned the car.
Basically on a cold start first thing in the morning it'll fire up first crank no problem, but only if the ambient air temp is about 15C or colder.
Same thing, first start of the day bit if its 20C or hotter outside it will not start. It ends up cranking for about 7-10seconds before sputtering to life.
I haven't started to troubleshoot yet but wanted to get the community's input beforehand. Thanks everyone!
Car is 1996 wrx sti with 97000km.

I've noticed similar on my 2005 sti on 40k miles.
It starts up immediately on a morning for my commute but after being sat baking for a day in the carpark it sort of splutters to life after a fair few cranks.
It runs smooth as silk and performance is fine. As it's only happened in the recent freak weather I'm not too nervous about it but my car definitely prefers the cold!

have you done a diagnostic check (black plug connectors under the dash drivers side) to what code it throws up? there is an atmospheric pressure sensor which might be faulty not 100% sure as i dont know much about it but it sits where the boost solenoid and map sensor is on the drivers side stut

A long crank time would suggest faulty fuel check valve. I.e. The fuel pressure in the rail is dropping whilst car not in use. Whether this is your problem and only happens when it is warm I couldn't really say.
