Default UK 2000 Cracked headers

Morning All - I apologise first for my lack of techy knowledge and the fact that this is probably a very simple question for the majority of members.

But I drive my Impreza - don't have a bloody clue about what makes it go.

I know that the headers are cracked / holed because of A) The noise + B) A mechanic had a go at welding them up a bit when he did my oil and filter.

My few questions are:
What's the impact on the car / performance of this?
Is there any point repairing them?
And,
If I have to replace and re-fit them, could someone please help me out with what parts I actually have to buy?
(Or even give me a quote if you're in the business??)

Thanks in advance guys.

You will loose performance due to escaping gasses, personally i wouldn't try and weld cast, replace them with others or upgrade to tubulars, its not an quick task to remove them especially the up pipe, gdluck

Cheers guys. Managed to find a 2nd hand set of equals yesterday, supplied and fitted for £265.

Extreme Scoobies, Chelmsford. To the rescue again.

True Steve, but it's a matter of getting it done asap and at a fairly decent price.

They are making a racket, the car sounds awful at the mo, so I'd rather get it done and get an upgrade when money allows.
