Default 2.1 fully forged what turbo?

what turbo would you recommend

gear box is a type r 5 speed dccd so prob only good for 350bhp when new

but i can get hold of a td05 18g so didnt know if it would be worth the investment?

car has:-

simtek
tubi headers
full exhaust
currently vf23
standard sti injectors
front mount

currently 323.5 bhp at 1.2 bar but i want more!

is the td05 worth it would you say? what is a good price for an andy forrest 18g to?

cheers

What parts are in the 2.1? Why limit yourself? Just get a decent gearbox and fit an s206, 500+hp...

heads are sti ones with the inconel filled valves or whatever it is...the small shims not the big ones!

whats an s206?

im looking to blow the box then get a stronger one anyway!

its used on the track so i want good reliable power to hammer around in all day not just short bursts! iv got anti lag and launch to and i do use it quite hard haha

Its all down to personal preference. If its tracks then you aren't going to be using it low down the revs so spool etc isn't so much of an issue. It all depends what you want!

Plenty of choice out there

well i only ask the question as i can get this 18g for a good price i think so did not know if it was worth it or not!

and i dont want to spend a grand or more on a turbo when i can get this 18g for what i think is cheap!

i havent spent thousands on my engine i built it myself and with mapping it owes me about 1200 quid (including nitrided and cross drilled crank acl bearings steel rods and mahle stroker pistons) haha...its a toy not a money pit...or i didnt like to think it was i have just heard the 18g can give slightly stronger and more reliable power than my vf23 that is getting a bit noisy and will be good to take the abuse

do you agree???

Don't underestimate the strength of the 5 speed DCCD box, we've ran them to in excess of 450bhp.

is the td05 18g any good for me then? what power can i expect to make with slightly upped fuel pressure on standard sti injectors and this turbo for good safe reliable power? i was limited by the boost i think on my vf23 as 1.2 was a safe amount so is the case i can safely run more boost on the 18g for more power?

cheers

Surely your injectors are the limiting factor...

Iv got an adjustable regulator that will do for now

What injectors do you recommend?

What realistically have i got to do for 400 brake or more? Is the 18g gonna do that? Or a solid 350 at least with good torque that can be given abuse for say half hour track sessions at a time?

The 18G will sturggle to do 400bhp without being mapped for a methanol mix, for that I'd recommend 740cc injectors and a Deatschwerks 300lph pump.
A genuine 350 is still a struggle on the stock 440s and especially if your stock pump can't keep up with the rate of flow.

if you want to have more power, then you will have to change your injectors. 550s should see you for 400bhp with a bigger turbo. if it was me id get a billet sc40/42/46. would be nice with your stroker.

550s won't flow enough for 400bhp without a fair old hike in fuel pressure !
In my experience, you're better off going straight to 740s.

I've got 650's, a 290lph fuel pump and an SC42 running on Alcatek, made 439 on VPower and goes very well - all on a 2.0 STI and standard internals

It does however also chuck out 385ft/lbs which depending on the condition of your gearbox may be a problem!

bumping this again as im seriously looking for more power now

what injectors and fitting kit do i need to support the big turbo so i can start sourcing parts for when i do it?

do the 760 injectors come out of a newer sti or are they a custom part?

am i best going for a direct fit md or sc turbo or is it worth the extra hassle of going for a rotated setup?

like i said its an open deck early sti bottom end fully forged/steel rods bottom end so i think im ok for 500 bhp but i dont think i will get that far anyway

any info will be appreciated

cheers
