Default Over heating!

What could cause my 2003 wrx's temp gauge to be going crazy?

its overheating.

i.e. the engine is getting too hot

Wey a kna that! Wht cud be causing it! Water level is fine! Dont think the head gaskets have blown!

air lock in the cooling system, first port of call would be to get shot of the airlock and top the coolant up etc and see what happens after that.

If it persists then I'd be inclined to do a sniff test on the coolant to rule out potential headgasket issues

Thanks rob, al rule out the air lock tomoro and go from there, gonna check my rad aswell as the bottom looked wet, cud pf just been off the road tho

Its never actually hit the red. Was just going up near it! But it was doin it once i was sat still mainly

Check your header tank for any leaks as well. Mine was overheating due to a small hole in the neck of the header tank.

Iv burped the car! I cant see any leaks! My heaters are working fine! But my car is still over heating!

Iv just drove about 20 mins and the temp gauge was all the way up!

Where is the thermostat? Nd how would i check it?

remove teh hose at the bottom right side of radiator , the thermostat is in the hole at teh other end of teh pipe which connects to water pump
