Impreza Will Not Start - Help appreciated
Hey guys, my 2007 Subaru Impreza R Sport, will not start.
When I turn the key, the dash lights flicker wildly and the engine does not turn over. Also the alarm sounds one brief beep.
I try this within the time limit of the immobiliser. The battery is not flat, if I turn the key 3/4 on, the lights, radio and aircon work. The key fob also locks and unlocks the car, but the drivers side rear door seems to unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock very quickly when using the fob.
I have opened and closed all the doors, the boot and the bonnet, and checked the starter fuse.
Any help on finding out what the hell is going on would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Tom

Id suggest the battery is flat. It may have some power in it but not enough to crank the engine. Its takes maybe 10amps to light the dash and various electrical stuff and somewhere around 300amps to crank the engine. How have you checked the battery is not flat?

Definately sounds like battery, the alarm chirp gives it away.
I spent a day fiddling with my car, lights left on at various times and inevitably the battery emptied. I got full dash (and even headlight) functionality, but the engine wouldn't turn over.
Quick jump and it was well away.

Thanks guys you were right. Ive just charged it, and it starts.
What threw me was the dash lights flashing, but I guess in hindsight thats from the starter motor taking all the power from everything else.
Problem solved.
