Default Sti upupipe lower

http://www.4shared.com/photo/YsJ3bDEA/image_1.html

Since fitting my uppipe on my wrx i get a wiff of petrol fumes but just put it down to it being decated. Checked my gaskets and seem fine but looking closely i saw a sign of black sut. I think its leaking on the weld but not sure till i take the undertray off. The pipe looked fine when i bought it and was fitted when the engine was out. But if i have got to take the pipe off isnt it difficult to the uppipe unbolted from the turbo

it definitely looks like its blowing, its easy enough to remove with leaving the turbo in place, remove the downpipe, unbolt the up-pipe both ends remove the 2 engine mount nuts
jack the engine up and the up-pipe will drop down.

Get a bendy knuckle and extension for your socket set, makes it a lot easier

If its the bottom joint.. I'd remove half the headers underneath. Saves removing the downpipe.

it looks to me like its still got the heat sheilds on it. have you inspected the pipe under those? there is a flex joint in the middle where they are prone to blowing.

Thats what i was thinking. It could be blowing in a different place maybe with it haveing the sheild on. I was going to take the sheild off before fitting it but didnt think it would be a good idea because of the heat they produce. What you think

Just got round to looking at this as a couple of mechanic mates wont help and not do it so decided i will do it to try and save some £££. All nuts will undo so thats the easy bit but just looking and now i see your post i was thinking will it easily come out without undoing or touching engine mounts

Do yourself a favour and replace it with a slip-jointed up-pipe eg Harvey pipe from ASPerfromance.
