Help with fueling please
Hi,
I have 2007 Hawkeye WRX currently circa 350bhp and I have just won a v9 STI cooler on eBay
Question is if wanted more power should I be getting aftermarket FPR or jump right in with 725cc injectors.....
and is there anything else people would recommend for 360-380bhp (apart from forged bottom end and STI 6 speed, I'm saving already lol)
Thanks
My current spec is
RCM TD05-18g
Stock 565cc injectors
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
RCM de-cat downpipe (heat wrapped)
Perrin 3-port boost control solenoid
Turbosmart dual port dump valve
Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust
Apexi pod filter
Perrin turbo inlet
Perrin turbo blanket
NGK grade 7 Iridium plugs
Zerosports cool running thermostat
Race Dynamix map
Xtreme uprated clutch
Full Samco hoses
Perrin oil catch tank
RCM carbon fibre radiator panel
Cosworth 0.78mm head gaskets
ARP 11mm head studs
Cosworth phenolic inlet manifold gaskets

Hi there
Assume you are still on the stock internals and assume you are still on stock 5 speed
Then your mappers shouldn't push too far yours car/engine and gearbox and you should be enough with yours existing injectors,OE STI pink injectors are good up to 400bhp,above that 650cc injectors should be enough and with FPR you have nice combo which should be enough for yours future upgrades
Hope this help

Thanks for reply
Yes stock internals and box, headgasket went last year hence ARPs and cossy gaskets.... so just aftermarket FPR will be sufficient till its forged?
Just worried about IDCs atm as thought these shouldn't be over 80-85%

Hi there
You will be pushing yours engine on daily basis?
Or you will be using or running Methanol?
If you will say yes on this,I would go down the route of the 650cc or 750cc injectors, yours you can still sell for £120-£180 and buy used set of the 650/750cc
Some people running two fuel pumps(044 or something similar) which help to lower IDC,due this I would speak with mapper about this first

It's not hammered round a track but I go on the odd boost ;-)
I was thinking about possibly 10-20% methanol in the tank, got to safer hasn't it? Would need extra headroom in injectors then. Do you have much experience with it?
What are the risks engine wise?

Hi there
If you will be running 10-20% methanol I would go with bigger injectors for sure, methanol will just give more hp and torque mainly,if its safer in many ways its safe
We are run 20% meth and car with meth feels more crispier and sharper than on V-power alone(much smoother too).On yours you can have two fuel maps, which is good, one map will be for V-Power and second map can be for V-Power and 10-20% methanol
