I received my 03 sti gear surround and gator but having a problem fitting it to the my 02 impreza

The 03 must be a lift reverse whilst mine is not. Is there a way to use the gator from the 03 and use a different gear **** to fit it ?

Or will i have to remove the gator from the surround from the 02 and fit it to the 03 surround

I use a standard leather gaitor from a classic on a six-speed box.
