Its pretty common. Its probably the pads moving about in the caliper. Not alot can really be done to cure it

I agree with turbotits. It is the pads moving in the caliper. I had same problem, i sorted it just by swapping the pads around. Just try one side at a time and ensure the pad retainers are nice and tight to pad. Hope it helps

Agreed, but you either have that, or make the pads so tight they are a PITA to remove to change....

Yep and make them to tight and they dont move in and out properly. So you end up with binding brakes or brakes that require more pedal effort to move the pads onto the disc,s

I only meant the spring retainer to make good contact. i think its only 0.3 thick, so will hardly lock up the pads, boys

I don't think folk are getting at you, just commenting that you either have the pads an easy sliding fit for replacement, and suffer the occasional knock in reverse, or make them so tight they don't knock and end up being awful to get out.

If you bend the spring clips they will hold the pads firmer in the calipers , the pad will be a loose'ish fit in the calipers , if they are too tight they will jam when they heat up and expand , if pads jam they can overheat a disc and warp them.

It can exaggerate it more if the calipers bodies have rusted and lost some material , it will mean the gap in the caliper where the pads fit will be slightly larger.
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian
