Default too much choice for forging :@

Been driving me mad all day now, there is too much choice on forging engines on here and the internet in general.

Due to further damage to my ej20 (my rods are not within spec after checking) I'm now going to forge the bottom end.

So as this is a road car now more than 450hp is needed.

Knowing this from what I have read eagle rods and wiseco pistons will be good for the job? But loads more are recommended too ????

Also sti crank with acl or other upgraded bearings.

Cheapest place to get such items would be ebay maybe? Seems to be tons of traders on here and I cant decide which is the best to use?

Cheers for the replies guys, I think tomorrow I will have to get on the phone to some of these people to see what they are saying.

Sadly cosworth is out of my price range.

Alot of people use real street performance for parts, I'm sure people will be along to comment at some point, if I had to buy parts I would certainly be looking at the states, but the import charges are quite high, unless the guys out there do you a favour on the commercial invoice but I think even with the charges they work out cheaper than here, but I could be wrong, don't forget alot of money with builds is labour time, if your just looking for parts then make a few calls

Yea just parts bud, I'm not sure the exact import charges but I have got away with no import charges before when ordering from the US. Would be nice to get lucky again lol.
I will check out real street performance too, still can't see the definite thing to go for tbh yet.

Ive just started buying bits for a build.
Ive gone for standard subaru new age rods, Safe to 400 bhp Ive been told. Im going for mahle pistons as Im reliably informed theyre the quitest out of the bunch.

Where have you sourced these parts? Did you buy from US trader on here? or other?

I don't want to discredit what you have been told but I've done a lot of reading on this and standard wrx rods don't get good press. To back this up mine are screwed after bottom end failure.

So what happens when you (and you will) decide to push the power up, engine out and replace the rods ??
Why not use decent rods first time around, the engine is in bits so it makes sense.

My car is an early RA, the gear box will give up long before 400. Building to a 400+ spec would have been nice but realistically I'm not gonna need it.
Costs is the main reason for using new age rods. New "new age" rods cost me £100 from a reputable builder on here.
The money saved will go on towards getting it built professionally and all other upgraded parts needed for a proper build.
Oil pump, fasteners, gaskets, clutch, belts etc etc. The list is long
