Default High pitched whistle?

Hi,

Have a 05 STi Type uk,

Seems to have a very high pitched whistling sound when running idle, can't actually hear where this is coming from though...

definitely coming from the engine somewhere but i'm unable to locate where this is coming from.

So far i've found only some information in regards to this, boost leak, possible issue with BOV, one of the belts, possible tensioners? Or cam belt? something to do with the air intake system that's on it.

apart from that i can't find any other information on this.

I was wondering whether anyone else has had this issue or could shed some light on this?

I have been told also the clutch bearing may have some issue / dirt on it, standard OEM clutch and has done 72000 miles.

Thanks in advance,

You can remove the A/C belt and the PAS belt and run the car for a short while to rule that out. Should be easy enough to troubleshoot if it happens on idle!

AC Belt has been removed currently, but not the PAS belt, it actually managed to stop the whistling when i turned the dump valve on. as it's usually off.

Very strange and can't locate this as it's hard to find! argh.
