Hi just wanted to get some peoples opinion on a problem i have with my scooby. Its a 53 plate wrx on 79000 miles. Starts and drives fine but when you rev it to 3500 or above it makes a strange sound. Have checked all water and oil which appears totally fine. Wasn't totally convinced it was bottom end as it doesn't sound as a knock its more of a higher pitch noise rather then a bottom end knock.

Any Ideas?

my guess, 3500 would be the point your turbo is spooling....

so.. turbo bearing??

Not a lot to go on there, but likely a rattly exhaust heat shield. In particular the noisy one tends to be the up-pipe where the shield rattles because the welds break.

Have checked and its defo the bottom end thats gone. Gonna have to change it for a replacement. What fun

yep. has anyone change a bottom end of a newage. Just wondered if anyone could offer some advice.
