NGK Platinum vs NGK Iridium spark plugs
Howdy
Can anyone tell me the differences in these two plugs?
I've got a mostly standard 99 WRX but will be hoping to upgrade to around 320bhp later this year (fuel pump, injectors, exhaust & remap).
The car is rarely used, it's more of a project so getting it ready for trackdays. It will be used primarily on track so looking for the best spark plug to handle that sort of driving with the power it will have.
Thanks
Lee

Without intending to state the obvious, the difference is that one has a platinum centre electrode and the other is iridium.
The theory is that the different metals give a longer life, with iridium being the better. Although in my experience there is not much in it, both are good and a better material to use compared to a std plug. Longer life isnt really a factor as most enthusiasts change their plugs more often anyway.
For your use I would look more towards the heat rating, a grade 7 platinum should do the job nicely.

Ok thanks for the advice.
I thought that the platinum plugs would be the better plugs as they are £60 from scooby clinic compared to £41 for the iridium ones from scooby world. Seems a big difference for spark plugs!
Think I'll go for grade 7 iridium ones then.
Cheers

I wouldn't waste my money on iridium tips I'd just go pfr7b don't always look at the price and assume its better did you know most evos even high powered evos use the most basic plug (bpr8s) which are no more than £2.00 each.
