Exclamation Oil temp

Ok I have defi gauges and wondering about oil temp. Normally sits at 85-95 just drove out to Germany and noticed it was fluctuating to 110 with the needle dropping down and up irraticly when driving hard on the autobahn.oil pressure is fine and normal so is water temp. Checked levels all is fine so is this normal as don't want a drama on autobahn lol

Seems pretty high for what is effectively a motor way run - maybe your gauge/sensor is f****d?

Something wrong there mate, I would`nt drive it at anything near 120 or above, Hopefully its the sender thats faulty because 140/150 dec C will kill the big ends in no time.

I struggle to get enough temp in my oil when puttering about, but when driven hard on boost it runs over 100 until I back off to let the temp drop a little. You could try a different oil to keep it more stable if you're driving it that hard.

A 10w30 will protect less if you are reaching high oil temps for any prolonged periods. If you are reaching temps of over 100 I'd deffo consider a 40 but would certainly stick to the 5 rather than 10 so get a 5w40 otherwise it'll not offer very good protection when cold.

I use 10/50's in mine but have the benefit of an OEM oil cooler too and in 2 years I have never seen over 100 dec C with some enthusiastic driving and a couple of track days,
