Is it parked anywhere near a mobile phone mast? It is VERY common for them to interfere with the alarm.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting battery, may reset alarm! Worth a try if you're stuck.

Red key light is a transponder warning rather than alarm. Is the car cranking but not starting? Or do you hsve the pin code for the alarm?

Hold and press the fob inside near to the dash as due to the bad weather it still could be transmission interference and keep trying as there could be a lull in the transmission signal.

If you have recovery they will recover you twice if the garage is closed now. most people dont realise this and think they have to pay once they are home. you only have to pay if the garage is open and you get recovered home then want to go the garage.
If you have not checked your alarm fuse it might be worth looking for that see if its blown

warm the fob, its likely its too cold to remove the immobiliser hence it cranking but not starting........

if it wont work, then input the 4digit code into the key pad before trying the key and it should sort immobiliser

it wont crank the engine m8, all lights up but thats it. this always happens when ive had the door open for a while (key out) and the alarm has kicked in, all i usually do it press the button on the fob and it cranks over fine.

Put the pin code into the key pad and it will disable the alarm. Keypad is either in the glove box or coin holder to right if steering wheel depending on year of car

This happened to me, mrs brought me spare key, If you have swapped the battery the key needs programming, i never found out how to do it but my local subaru dealer did it in 10 seconds flat and didn't charge me. So shouts out to Dennis Common at Longframlington

Thats a pita. Its a 4 digit code on a small silver sticker. Have you tried spare key etc?

No alarm is nothing to do with the ecu. Although the transponder in the key is coded to it
