18 or 20g

18 or 20g
Looking at changing the turbo hopfully in the next few months on my v5 type r along with some other mods such as fmic, 550 injectors, 3 port bs, Aiming for 360- 370 bhp don't really wanna push the old girl harder as I believe that's about ur limit on stock internals.
My question is what is the best turbo at an affordable price, now I no the sc36 /38 is the best out there but the chances of one poping up are proper rare and at a grand new just outta my budget so I'm thinking either the td05 18g or 20g.
If I buy a 18g I think I will be using it to its full capacity which I believe to be a good thing and the 20g been a 400+ turbo will not be used to its full potential, so do I have this right and have I answered my own question or have I got it compleatly wrong.
Thanks

I thought the 18g was good for that sort of figure (380bhp top end ) so If thats the case what are the performance differences between the 18 & 20g... I mean do they perform the same...
I read that the 20g is also more suited to a 2.5 as apose to a 2 litre...
Do I have any other options apart from the 18g obviously apart from that mentioned

My Classic with 18G is making 370@1.4 bar v-power...but i need to be nice to the box 1st,2nd+3rd. Driving wise spool is Low, fast and torque-y! Real 18G's are not cheap though-where are you looking?
think for the future...
If you have 400.. you want 500 a week later...and so on! are you stopping at 360/370?

I agree with what ur saying 400 then 500 but I would need to be able to afford a rebuild first so I will be happy at 370bhp for A while and then I will take it from there.
