Default Engine Leak :S

I got home yesturday and noticed steam coming from the front of my car, popped the bonnet and noticed it was all wet behide the drivers head light, top of bonnet, back of light, abs unit, airbox and snorcle, Checked all my fluid and they all seem ok, couldn't trace the sorce. All the pipes seem ok, raditor seems ok, started the engine and no new leak, get home again tonight and it's the same, must be under pressure as its covered a large area, it's a clear colourless liquid, slighty greasy to the touch. Not sure if its water mixed with some oils from the engine bay. Anyone had any similar issues?

Coolant, probably a split in the plastic on the side of the rad they are known to go there, Mine had and you couldn't see it with the rad installed. Sometimes the crack won't leak even when hot until you boost the car and the pressure builds up. New rad or top hose check that maybe loose.

Start it and run it until hot, open bonnet and watch. Mine did iot: it was a TINY split in the top hose that opened under pressure.

New top hose and new coolant sorted it.

DO do a search on how to fill the coolant system without airlocking......

This.

I remember a few years ago driving to work and seeing steam come from the drivers side vent. Panicking I pulled over and was merely greeted with a pin ***** sized hole spurting coolant into the bonnet. Good wrap of 'tricians tape and a replacement hose soon sorted the bugger.
