Vibrations in 5th and 6th under load!!!
Wonder if anyone can help me? I've had my car in two garages and had a live data log and still can't pin point the exact cause!
When pulling from 3k in 5th and 6th the car vibrates until 4k then is fine above 4k. Anyone had this problem before?
Boost control is good all sensors working as they should.
Had the engine/gearbox/diff mounts checked and all solid. prop carrier also firm.
No play in any of the drive shafts? Clutch doesn't slip!
We're all completely stumped as to whats causing it!

Had something very similar (on WOT) and it turned out to be the springs in the clutch plate were loose.
The problem began when the clutch was fitted and took a while (and a lot of money) to track down, so it was either fitted faulty or faultily fitted.
You haven't had any work done at Extreme Scoobies in Essex have you?

Clutch was checked a few months back while engine was out.
Can't get it to slip with load or replicate the vibrating in any lower gear under load up a hill.
Hope it's not the clutch causing this guess the only way to know for sure is to replace it!!

I had exactly the same problem, vibration between 3-4k then fine after 4k. Took it to garage and found out the bolts connecting the centre pipe to the down pipe were loose lol. Tightened up and has been fine ever since.

Well I suffered this problem for 12 months and it cost me about £1600 to diagnose and solve.
Basically I think there was/is a natural harmonic vibration in the transmission system and it was amplified by the two loose/broken damping springs in the clutch plate, which were thus, obviously not capable of doing the job.
Could be something else in your case however.
Did your problem start when you put the engine back in, or was it present before?
I guess the clue for me was that the problem occurred after I had the new clutch fitted.
In my case, it is not something that would be picked up unless the clutch plate was actually being inspected. It worked fine generally, except for the problem described.
Unfortunately I also had and exhaust mod and head gaskets done at the same time - so this muddied the issue somewhat.
The guy who fitted the clutch etc. was either incapable of or couldn't be bothered to make good his poor workmanship and it wasn't until I took the car to API that the problem was diagnosed and sorted.
I don't mind it when people make mistakes, we are all human.
It is what we do about them that is the hallmark of any service business.
Moral of the story (for me) - don't go to Extreme Scoobies, unless you are happy to pay someone else to sort out any problems.

just a wild thought to throw in the mix. i'm going to assume that this isn't the issue but my gf's S2000 did something similar and i thought it was a transmission issue but it was an issue with the springs. i can't give you the exact science of it but long story short when we bought the car the previous owner chopped the springs causing the whole car to vibrate at a certain rpm throughout the gears. not suggesting you have chopped springs but if it doesn't turn out to be a few loose bolts on the centre pipe it could be an issue with the springs? could be worth a quick check if anything. good luck

Can't say I noticed it after engine was done. But I wasn't driving the car hard under load then. Only noticed it when I was cruzing on the motorway and decided to use the low down torque to over take in 6th and the car vibrated.
Even my misses look at me and said what the hell was that!!
I instantly let off fearing the worst then noticed it was happening in 5th.

I've got this in mine, had a new clutch fitted last year whilst having the hg done, i get it for avery short while at 3k in both 5th and 6th, its due a service and mot though so may ask him to have a look. ive also heard it may be down to the torque in the 2.5, think that may be a bit of a long shot though

I sincerely hope you didn't get the clutch fitted at the same place I did.

Sorry forgot to post the answer to the problem. Was a worn flywheel bearing vibrating under load on full boost. Must of been damaged while engine was out. Can't imagine it would fail after 20k
