Service Intervals 500 miles either way
#2
My dealer told me the tolerance for the service intervals was +/- 250 miles, however that was for the first i.e. 1000 mile service.
I'd be inclined to go for the 14500, then they can't argue come a claim as the oil will have been changed slightly prematurely.

As already said it is probably best to do it at 14500 until the warentee is out. Then you can decide for yourself.. doing a lot of miles myself the odd 500miles saves me some money in the long run.. unless of course it does some damage.
As my car is way out of warentee now.
I try and think about the driving I have done since the last service. If it is all motorway cruising then waiting 500miles should be fine.. if however it is after I have been on holiday for 2weeks and done half the service mileage towing my heavy trailer tent up and down mountains then I tend to go for the 500miles earlier route.

Think the frequency of servicing is somewhat of a myth and +/- 500 miles will make bug6er all difference (except when running in). Seems to depend where you live . .
I own a Euro spec MY99, which has just passed it's 3rd birthday. Only has 28,000 km on the clock (18k miles). Booked it in for a service a few weeks back and was expecting a monster bill for the major 45k miles / 3year service, including cambelt change etc. etc.
Funny thing is the dealer (region Amsterdam) insists the interval for cambelt change is 100k km (63k miles) / 5 years and so only did a minor service + wiper blades for a resonable 120 quid.
