Default 1996 wrx help

Ok so ive been a bit confused as to why my wrx is not giving it's all lately, on boost its underpowered and spluttery...

I've ordered spark plugs, replaced the maf with a brand new one and today when i was looking to clean the boost control solenoid i noticed that the bottom hose is just venting to atmosphere, when according to this diagram below its supposed to be heading to the "air intake resonator box"

Can anyone tell me exactly where it should be going to, and how i get to it as i can see anywhere obvious.

cheers in advance.
