More engine/exhaust noise!
Hi peeps,
I am considering upgrading my exhaust system and the air intake.
I currently have an 07 model STI with PPP
I understand that some bits are already 'done', but how much more power is there to potentially gain by doing a full down pipe and free-flow system?
Would I have to adjust the CPU map too?
Basically, I want the car to sound like a Subaru, not a victim of a chloroform attack lol. I don't want it to be booming loud, but a bit of grunt and a hiss is always a good thing!
I want to be able to hear the turbo spool up and the engine growl (intake) and a balanced volume coming from the exhaust end too (not over kill). If there is some power to be gained at the same time, that's a bonus!
Any tips??

Do you have any idea how much of a power gain there is to be had from upgrading the exhaust, considering iv already got the ppp bits?
and the air intake - are there any relatively cheap ways to 'unsilence' the intake side?
Same for a remap - any idea of roughly how much power I could gain by remapping?

If you have the PPP sport cat, you'll only need a cat back system, which will go right on with no extra mapping required as such. Having said that, the PPP mapping is fairly tame, and can be improved upon considerably. If you decide to change the air filter, the effects on the MAF mean that it would require remapping right away.
We've often used this Jetex system;
It's nicely balanced between flow and sound, being Scooby like without booming on the motorway. Not expensive at around £430 all in.
We can supply if you'd like one.
