Anyone got this?
Is it really loud? Loud enough for people on the street to notice? Did it degrade performance?

I've got a MY99, ITG panel, SS back box and wanted to know the score...Ideally a nice whoosh would be nice...

I've got a forge VTA. It's not as loud as say an HKS BOV but it's not exactly quiet, people do tend to notice it when I'm driving round town

dunno if this fitting guide is of any use, mainly cos mine is a MY94. but it shows what it looks like.

The Forge is certainly one of our top sellers 3rd to Blitz and HKS.

Let me know if you need any details

I`ve got a forge on mine, and i.m.o. you cannot go wrong for the money..... enough noise to hear it very well but not O.T.T.

the forge is a good compromise.
it can be supplied with either the red soft spring, which makes loads of noise (not as much as some, though) or the blue hard spring, which makes a 'whoosh' on full boost changes but a WRC-like 'chatter' on lower-boost changes.
excellent value for money, IMHO

I got one on my MY97, I bought it from Jamie, he's a very nice bloke and is great if you need any advice. It makes a nice sound but is not too loud (there are different strength spings to make it louder) and it has not degraded the performance on mine, made it better if anything.

I got the Forge fitted by TSL 2 weeks ago. Wasn't as loud as I feared and my 4 year old daughter thinks it sounds like a horsey! I was looking for more of a TTSSShhhhh noise, would a different spring give me this?

Cool

Got the Forge myself on my MY99, loads of chatter with only a small hint of Whoosh. I fancy a bit more whoosh, so i think i will have to swap my blue spring for a red spring. Where would i get one? do i go straight to forge? and how many £ notes?

The DV comes with one spring (why they don't include both, beat's me), the blue one. I asked forge about changing the spring and they advised me to stick with the blue spring as it should get louder.

Brun, you need to speak to Forge for a different colour spring.
They were going to send me one out in the post free, but I decided to stick with the blue one.

ive just fitted a forge VTA to my scoob the other week. i got it second hand from the bbs for £50 (couldnt justify £250+ for a blitz or HKS), it came with loads of spares, inc the blue spring. i havnt had it appart yet but im assuming it fitted with the red spring at the moment. i may change it round this weekend for a comparison check.

the sound is awsome (for me anyway) i get a chatter/flutter noise at low boost and a big psssstwooooosh!! at higher boost. and i also get a combination of the psstwooosh followed by a flutter when i drive at low to medium boost. plus i get a pop from the old exhaust now and again (no flames as yet, still waiting for the DP )

so, obviously im pleased with it

Sent Forge an email with regard to the red spring, and the nice chaps have popped one in the post to me free of charge. I'll let you know how it goes when it's fitted.

Just spoke to Forge myself - VERY helpful indeed.

Turns out that my Forge VTA valve, which is just over a year old, dosent have coloured springs, but a coloured piston! ( i was getting confused with all this talk of coloured springs).

Anyway, he's sending me (FREE OF CHARGE) a service kit for my valve with another spring to try.

Thanks Forge - top marks

Nick

So that went pear shaped, 21hrs after emailing my address to forge, i recieved a red spring as requested. Naturally i took my dv straight to bits, only to find mine already has the red spring. I do feel like a bit of a d1ck, as my new red spring is on it's way back in the hope that it may come back blue. Totally agree with Coogie, the boys down at forge can't help enough.

Two days after speaking to Forge, my service kit and blue spring arrived in the post yesterday.

They sent me a new piston, valve seat, "o" rings, and a new spring all for free!

Fitted it all yesterday, and the result was fantastic.

Before i was getting slight whoosh and all chatter, now with the softer spring i get no chatter and all WHOOSH, which is what i prefer.

So, in answer to the original question, YES the Forge VTA DV is a loud whoosher with the right spring fitted, if thats what you're after, or all chatter if you prefer.

Once again, thanks to Forge for an excellent service!

Nick.

So the blue spring produces a loud woosh and the red spring more of a chatter???

My DV is an earlier one, so the spring was not actually coloured, but Forge told me the standard spring (red) is the harder one.

After fitting the Blue soft spring - plenty of whoosh,

Nick.

Got the blue spring this morning along with two spacer jobbies to adjust the height of where the spring sits. Tried the valve this aft with the new spring, then with one spacer, then with two. Settled for one because two was reintroducing the chatter at the expense of whoosh! I did feel though, that without any spacers there was a slight jerk on lift off of the throttle, perhaps the spring is a little soft on its own. It might just be me talking crap!?!?
In conclusion, Blue for head turning Whoosh, Red for WRC chatter.
P.S> Bigs thumbs up to Forge!
