You won't be at full boost at 2k.
Could the missfire at 5k be boost cut?
Get a boost guage on there and find out what's happening.

Hmmm induction, may be a dead maf sensor but you need to get it to a specialist to have it checked out, I wouldnt drive it hard until you have done so as it could cause engine damage (and bin the induction kit).

From my recollection, a P1 pulls strongly and smoothly from 5000 to 8250 RPM, and reasonably from about 3500 RPM.

Now though, it is an old car, and even years ago they had a reputation for blowing up years ago with many of them already having had an engine failure. Do not drive it at full throttle, check/replace the MAF sensor, check the plugs, fluid levels, plug leads, fuel pressure, fuel filter, injectors etc. If I took on a P1 now I'd go over it methodically with a fine toothed comb, otherwise it is a time bomb, even minor faults can cause them to blow up, the knock control is poor, MAF sensors fail without fault codes and the standard map rides the knock sensor on UK fuels. Superb cars once sorted though, fantastic suspension and adjustable chassis for UK roads.

I'd say MAF dude, sounds simillar to my WRX when it went. It was ok when cold at sensible driving speeds, but when warm as soon as i got above certain revs it would cough and splutter. It took me ages to find the right MAF for mine (Purple label). So i found once it warmed up I'd unplug the MAF while running and it improved alot. Brings the engine check light up though and couldn't put my foot down. It kept me off my push bike!!
