Why aluminum foil tape?

Why is aluminum foil tape used in motorsports more so than other tape, what attracts people to use it?

Heat reflective? wrapped around my FMIC piping in places..........

as above, my fmic pipes had lost all the chrome off them so done them all with it to reflect the heat.

There is a balance though- it will also keep heat in so be careful what you wrap
