Default Help please 95 Wrx

Hi I'm back on here after a few years out of the Scooby scene. I live in Lyneham Wiltshire and the car is running a bit lump every now and then. Also the idle is quite erratic sitting at 2k but not all the time, I have tried to adjust both throttle sensors and it is either to high or wants to stall. Can any1 point me in the right direction or is close enough to lend a hand. The car seems slightly under power, I have removed the leaking dump valve, replaced the temp sensor with a second hand 1 and the throttle sensors played about with. There are to many dtc listed as the previous owner removed a load of after market updated parts while the battery was connected

Could it be a sticky idle control valve?

Is that the one on the side of the throttle body or inlet manifold

First thing I'd try is an ECU reset. Just leave the battery disconnected overnight and then see if the idle has returned to normal.
If you don't have any luck with that, look for air leaks and check the coils and plugs.

This is what it looks like. It should be right of the throttle body. I replaced mine with one off the spare engine. Seemed to solve the problem. The car would idle at 2000 rpm.

Do you know how to check your car for fault codes?

The quickest way to get rid of them is to fix the problems. Read them, write them down and find solutions for them.

There should be a connector that plugs somewhere into the air intake, telling the car how much air is going into the system. Check that

The Air Flow Meter (also known as MAF sensor & Mass Air Flow Sensor) measures the amount of air flowing into the engine while running. The sensor can be found between the air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet tube. Mass air flow sensors work together with the oxygen sensor and the engine control system to maximize your cars performance and economy.

Usually it is difficult to detect when a mass air flow sensor fails, the check engine light or engine symbol will probably not be illuminated.

Common symptoms of a faulty mass air flow meter are:

No start
Poor idling - stalls at idle or surging idle
Extended crank time when engine is cold
Cutting out when the engine speed drops (approching bends, roundabouts etc.)
Loss of power
Excessive black smoke
Poor fuel economy
