Default MD321T V MD321H billets

Hi guys im hoping someone could help me try and make my mind up on the above 2 turbos.

i want the quickest point to point car i can make so logic would say go the h route as its slightley smaller and should spool slighty quicker than the T

but as the t is only pennies more im struggling to justify not just going the T

i want to hang on to the top mount as long as possible i know its best to go fmic but i just dont want to hack the car up for the sake of 30hp

your help is needed grately

regards

dave

I had the none billet T on my old car and it made 1 bar at just over 3000 Rpm so not laggy in reality. The billet version should come in maybe a touch sooner.

Obviously the H being smaller would be even less laggy but I loved my T and was glad I chose it

I have the H on my 2.0 and gets 1.7-1.8 bar at 4k. Think the T may r abit big for the 2.0 so would think of stroker kit or 2.5

your car will always be quicker with the T, just adjust your driving style slightly to keep it on the boil.

Ive had both T and H on seperate cars and the T made around 40hp more but the H did spool abit quicker around 500rpm quicker. But as trevswood said just adjust the way you drive to keep the T on boost. The T will defo make a few more horses

I've had both on the same car. With the H it was an easier car to drive but as said, keep the T (billet in my case) on the boil and it's errr...........rather quick!

Cheers guys some nice back to back testing I really like the sound of the H I like easy I don't want the car to become hassle to drive. In the same light I like the sound of the T I suppose it's one of them things I've just got to choose.

Maybe the H is more what I want I'm not into top end I want to get to 100mph and back to 0 quickly that to me makes for a good car.

JohnD how did you find town driving with the T it's hard I know trying to explain how it felt reacted etc what did you loose from the H but gained on the T

Regards

Thanks for the graphs Jura but in this case we are not compairing those 2 turbos also is that car on meths.
Also I don't think I could achieve those numbers with the top mount at max what 400-420 ? So is the T overkill for what I'll get out of it ?

Hi Dave

If you are looking on second graph, there are two lines(Steve has made 452.5bhp/440lb-ft on V-power alone,482.5bhp/450lb-ft on methanol)

Not sure if you could achieve those numbers on TMIC,maybe yes

You never know if you will go in future with FMIC,as many people are happy with power what have, but after all they're still looking for more and more like we are

You will see what is best way to go and from this I would decide

Off boost driving is perfectly fine.
It's rather like going back to early turbo cars. Wait for it - here it comes - Whoosh!
I'm lucky that the car is not essential transport for me as I'm now retired so, it's a bit of a plaything. Luckily, the wife has just got a Mazda 3 MPS which, for a turbo car, is much more civilised

I was just about to post some graphs. Jura beat me to it. lol

If you are keeping the TMIC a H version would be a great car to drive.

I ran my OLDER version of the T on TMIC and even though it was OK whilst driving it I would be left by say a VF34 /VF35 on first spool then later on as the turbo came on song it picked up.

I'd imagine a H on Billet set up would be a fantastic quick spooler going by the mods you have advised in the first post.

What does your mapper of choice suggest?

What is the car being usd for?

What is your goal power wise? Are you likely to want more (you know you will lol) .

TMIC my car made 420bhp (I think I can't remember) but was maxed out with the flow rate on the TMIC.

Just my personal input , others may tell you different.

What does your mapper of choice suggest? He said H which is all good but its not his money at the end of the day so my choice at the end of the day

What is the car being usd for? just for fun pure fun

What is your goal power wise? Are you likely to want more (you know you will lol) . not chasing numbers id hope for over 400 with the dollar ive spent. i dont want to spend money on a built lump unless it blows up im not planning on forging so i want to keep her fairly safe but at the same time i want maximum bang for buck without spoiling the drive
