Strange Engine problems - Help please
Hi all
I have a 52 bugeye wagon, completely standard with 56k on the clock.
I've done over 1200 town miles and very happy but the car has 2 strange faults which I am not sure how to address?
Problem 1
When coming down from 2nd to 1st and pulling up at traffic lights etc the car can just randomly cut out? its done it maybe 6/7 times in the last 4 months I have a suspicion that the idle maybe too low? (And no I'm not just stalling it lol ) its ticks over about 500rpm is this correct?
Problem 2
when out on a long run once she is warmed up if i suddenly give it a foot full or drop down to 4th to accelerate the engine management light comes on flashed 4-5 times and then goes off. Now I'm wondering if this could be the O2 sensor on its way out?
Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

problem 1 sounds more like MAF to me????
problem 2 sounds alot like neautral position switch, i had the same problem on mine, car runs fine but acceleration made the light flash

Cheers all, I have a new maf in the garage ill get it swapped at the weekend, does anyone know if swapping this will cause ecu problems that will need addressing eg needing a reset?
