Angry Chav valve removed.. but still strong smell of fumes??? 😖

I have removed my dump valve on my 98 STi to try and stop the smell of fumes coming in through the heaters.

I searched and found that alot of ppl suggested this could be the cause but unfortunately it hasn't stopped it..

On the plus side though.. That stupid sneezing sound has gone and running a lot smoother!

Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks.

Don't know if this helps but it only starts to smell when idling and it doesn't smell when on re-circ but I don't want to just keep it on re-circ if there's a fault..
Cheers

are you sure its not a rocker cover leaking ?
you only smell them when you stop driving.

I've just had a quick look around and the rocker cover on the drivers side does seem to be leaking a little bit of oil so will be changing that next weekend so hopefully will help thanks.

Yeah it does only do it when idling.. ive also just spotted a small black rubber pipe running through the bulkhead from the heater motor behind the dash which seems odd?

Obviously there for a reason but not sure what??

These cars do have an issue of one of the fuel lines contracting in the cold and they can drip a bit of fuel..then you put the heater on and that's where the smell/fumes come from...miss doing it at the moment too

Ok thank you. I'll have a look when i get chance. I hope i can sort it as its driving me that crazy that i am ready for getting rid.

I do love the car as i'm more into 'old school' although i had enough of the fumes coming in the car with my R5 GTT's to be honest

Thanks for the advice guys

Is it petrol fumes or exhaust fumes, I've got a slight blow on my up pipe and I can smell it sometimes when I'm stationary.

It's more exhaust fumes than petrol
