Default Best Home Diagnostics Software?

I like the idea of being abel to diagnose any problem with my classic at home and i know you can conect some wires to get flashing lights but i would rather have somthing plugged in that say X need ajusting for example rather than getting charged £50 for a garage to tell me. So what programs are out there that are easy to use and sensibly priced?

depending on year of classic then Evoscan will be the best route,
sometimes the diagnosis comes from what a sensor is doing while the engine is running rather then just error codes, so live data reading is essential.
