new seal, and put a line of good sealant on the lip before fitting the new rubber. it could very possibly be coming from the rear lights too, common, also if u have a rear boot spoiler. assuming u have a saloon.

A common problem on some Subarus. I have a classic (year 2000) and water accumulates in the space saver wheel well (to a depth of several cms). I have a tiny leak from the seal round the boot opening - I can see a few spots of water on the carpet. I suspect most of the water that gets in to mine does so via the round seal under the space saver wheel. There are also body seals on the side - e.g. where the tool kit gets stored on the side behind the panels.

Remove seal rubber strip, smear Carafax on the metal upstand, replace rubber strip on top of it.

If it's the rear lights, remove, clean off all old sealant, replace with a 10mm bead of Carafax, replace lights.
Spoiler is similar, except an unbroken circle of Carafax round all holes in the boot lid, bolts, screws and wiring, too.

There are FIVE places where water can get into the boot. Mine has suffered four of them. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
