Why is de-cat option so popular?
Can decent power not be made with sport cats?
Has anyone ever been caught without cats? Is it just a fine?
I don't want to de cat if I can help it, my aim is for 300/300 from a 2001 bug that I use every day and cover 24000 miles a year

In my experience you don't gain much from a full decat without other tweaks. A full decat on my 95WRX gave gobs of midrange and fast spool, but an asthmatic top end. I went back to the regular downpipe, and will get it properly mapped for a 100cell downpipe in the new year.

I'm running 440 with a sports cat and passes MOT and roadside emissions. My cat is in the centre section (Miltek) and isn't causing any restrictions at my power level.
