hi,this car is a 1995 type ra, got a very bad knock/rattle coming from rear righthand cylinder or maybe bellhousing area, fitted replacement gearbox 500 miles ago, i am unsure at the moment exactly what could be causing the noise? any suggestions would be really appreciated !!!!!!!

Just had a listen its weird as in some ways it sounds like your bottom end but then I listen again and sounds like something else, either way am not 100% so can't help you but am sure someone will poss know bud

 

Rev your car slowly to about 3-4k rpms and see if the noisy increases while the car is in neutral. If it does it could be bottom end.

 

may of jumped a tooth on timming belt, i had it happen and after that the one bank had a light tapping,u might say minor engine damage was like that for years after.but id check the belt and poss the idler bearing that can sometimes get stuck causing the belt to heat up and go soft, causing the slip on cam shaft teeth. if that helps.

 

i had a car years ago that sounded like that when one of the spark plugs had blown out, had to take my head of and have it helicoiled

sounds nothing like when my bottom end went on my scoob
