Default How easy is it to replace a bugeye wrx turbo?

I'm hoping the replacement turbo for my WRX will be here after Xmas I just need it fitting before I head back to Aberdeen on Jan 6th. Is it a straight forward job if the local garage is busy?

Plenty of wd40 , good sockets + extensions
If all the nuts come off easy enough jobs a good un
If a stud snaps sit down and cry
If all goes well its a couple of hours max

Its not worst job to take on BUT...... Thats if all the studs/bolts are in good condition.
if the nuts are in poor condition and you manage to round one off you will have a job on your hands.
i replaced one turbo and it took me a couple of hours but i also replaced a turbo on an old classic and every bolt was seized....took me a week!!
check all the nuts and make sure you give them a good coat of penetrating fluid before steaming in.
good luck

As stated..

plenty of WD40 is a must!

and a good quality set of tools!

Also always fit new gaskets. its no fun taking it all off again cause you didnt change a £10 gasket
