Just as the man says the inlet manifold is strong enough to take the weight of the engine , done this many times

I usually do it with the lifting eye on the alternator bracket (I think) and diagonally across to another lifting ring placed in the gearbox bolt hole in the block (the one nearest the turbo). I don't know if this way is better than using the inlet manifold to lift, but it makes it very easy to alter the pitch of the engine while removing or installing.

I go off the inlet manifold too. And I use an old length of seatbelt. Attatch it at each end under where it loops making it short in length. Quick and easy and gives a good balance and control when lifting. Make sure you don't catch any pipes inbetween.

As above, used the inlet manifold.

Well I used a combination of inlet manifold, the lifting eyes, and the alternator Although think its on the alternator to save making a knot and its just slipped over the pulley to keep the rope on.

Mind you I didn`t know how to do it properly then lol.
I fitted it by using the inlet manifold (no pics)

M6 bolt, screw it in and pull, they sometimes need a good yank

Thanks everyone! I've disconnected everything on the engine and undone all the bolts on the bell housing......now what? Lol the engine will not pull away, I've tried teasing them apart with a wall paper scrapper with no avail.......any tactics are gratefully received!! Thanks, adam

Have you undo the engine mounts, also have you pulled the clutch fork out of the release bearing, if that's all been done jack it up on the sump very carefully, grab hold of the in let manifold and if give it a good yank hope this helps wiggy

As above if you've left the rubber mounts on but undone the nuts it needs lifting to clear these studs, then a bit of wiggling should get it free.
