Isn't the td05 inlet pointing the wrong way compared to a 2000 turbo?

td05 is 90 degree entry, td04 is front entry (only pre 96 wrx wagon had 90 degree td04).

Can be done but you will need the inlet pipework from an earlier impreza (have got if you need it) but imho best just take the TD05 to a decent engineer/machine shop and have it converted to front entry. They will cut the elbow off the turbo making it a straight swap for you TD04.

Ideal, just remember to get it mapped for the new turbo asap. I have done the td04-td05 conversion on an old wagon and it ran no problem at all but its not a given. I had to swap the ecu to a z4 to get more boost out of it, without the z4 it was no quicker than with the td04.
