Default 96 WRX Inlet Manifold Swop ?

I know I currently have the worst top mount possible (slanty) and the worst injectors (greys). I have also read the newer v5/6/7/8 intercoolers do not easily fit my ETB and the intercooler bracket bosses are different on the inlet manifold.

My intention was to go front mount, and phase 2 yellow injectors with adaptors, however I do not want to cut my inner wing or lose the original air box.

Is it possible to fit the inlet manifold assembly from a phase 2 UK Turbo instead?

The logic behind this is that the rail would already be suitable for yellows (or indeed they will be part of the assembly as they are standard fitament on these I believe) and the v5/6 intercooler should also bolt straight on. (And if it is worth it I could fit thermal spacers at the same time?).

If anyone has tried this or knows why I shoud not try it myself please speak up!

the bolt pattern on a phase 2 inlet is different to a phase 1/1.5 i believe.

you can get adapters to fit the phase 2 injectors into ur current rails, or find some yellow 440s from a v3 or v4 sti.

I do not like the idea of adaptors, can you fit the whole rail from a newer UK 2000 Turbo with the 440cc's as standard?

im not sure how easy or hard it would be to change the rails over from a newer version, adapters work a treat for phase2 injectors into a 1/1.5 rails.

Phase 1.5 manifold bolts direct to your heads, your fuel rails fit direct to that manifold, Phase 1.5 440cc injectors fit direct to your fuel rails.

Phase 1.5 manifold is similar(ish) to the Phase 2 so allows a bit more space to fit a larger top mount.

Why are you wanting to swap the inlet manifolds for???

A version 5/6 intercooler will fit your existing inlet with minimal mods and I currently run a bug wrx cooler on my 96 pre-facelift.

It can be done relatively easily if going down the ver5/6 intercooler path.
