Default Whining noise when accelerating

I have a 1995 wrx sti it's started to make a whining noise when accelerating the sort of whine a water pump makes when it's knackered could this be the water or oil pump it doesn't seem to be coming from gearbox I have a oil pressure gauge sometimes when idling it reaches low readings and the warning light comes on the previous owner said it was temperamental and sometimes didn't work

I had a whining noise only on boost turned out it was the gasket between the dump valve and intercooler was leaking, got a new one and fixed the problem
